Synopsis

A coming-of-age fantasy with a melancholy twist.

REVIEW

This coming-of-age fantasy animation is a melancholy portrayal of an "ugly" little girl's anxieties and fantasies about of growing up. She dreams of becoming pretty and, at the same time, of being rejected. When the girl wakes up from her dream, she experiences her first menstruation and then feels frightened and at a loss. Even though she comes back to her loyal, loving doll for consolation, it is inevitable that she will gradually "blossom" into a fully-grown woman one day.
